The construction labour of Kherwada town organised themselves under the banner of Janwadi Majdoor Union. The workers were silently observing the activities of JYS from last four years.Generally JYS took the issues of poor people and distributed thousands of leaflets on differrent issues on different occasions.JYS recently organised some demonstrations related to the workers problems,Specially the question of there wages which was not paid at time by government officials and contractors. They got success under the leadership of local units of JYS and support of block level committee.Such consistant programme apeal and encouraged to the construction labour also.Hence they started man to man contect for few days and stopped work for five days. The contractors were convinced but threatened to the leaders of workers. The leaders organise Mass meeting and called to JYS to lead but sangthan refused.JYS persued them to lead themselves.

Workers organised a second meeting.300 male and female workers were gathered. They stopped all construction work in area. They decided the wage as -73 rs/day for cooly,80 RS/day for Beldar and 160 Rs for messon. All workers were happy and entuasistic. The question of leadership was still not solved so they call the meeting again on 23-12-2007.They invite to JYS secretory for guidence and support.

The meeting was addressed by workers. They organised a leading committee of 27 members from 27 villages. Convinor and trssurer were also selected. They all decide to demonstrate in town for annoncement of rates to the people. The people and shop keepers were surprised by seeing the rally of the construction workers. The rally passed from different streets and converted in meeting at the workers centre.

The daily news paper coverd it well with the head line-Construction workers tool down and rally success. This is just starting but there is difficult way to achive the immediate demands.Struggle is contoneous.
